A sign it's time to go home

Sunday morning, I could have slept in longer, but The Gryphon nudged me out of bed so we could make it to the restaurant on time to catch the breakfast bar. This time I had an egg white omelet, some fruit, fat free yogurt and some granola.

Afterwards, we checked out of the hotel room, carrying our bags into the lobby. At this point, The Gryphon got waylaid by an important personnel issue, and so I grabbed a luggage cart, loaded it up and made my way to the car. I wasn't really irritated. It's just that I had packed an enormous number of bags for just a short weekend, and I felt silly standing in the lobby with all of them. The problem was that the hotel had been so cold the year before that this year I wanted to be certain I'd be prepared no matter what.

After the bags had been squared away, the only thing left to do was socialize with friends who were still there. The Gryphon was happy because he'd finally accomplished his main personnel related goals for the weekend. He could finally relax and have some down time.

We drifted through the various rooms and talked to people, many of whom were still playing games and socializing.

Finally, we ended up in the meeting room, this time to watch a video. It was a black and white Japanese melodrama, from the '60s, I'm guessing. We entered partway through and sat down to wait for The Cousin, who was going to look through the books I have for review for Wild Violet and take some off my hands.

I leaned back against The Gryphon, he put his arm around me, and I fell asleep. So when I woke up, the movie was even more confusing. That's OK, because by this point, people were pretty much just talking back to the screen.

When the movie ended, The Cousin went through my books and chose a few she'll review. We might have hung out longer and watched more videos except for two reasons. One, the room was too cold, even when I was wearing my winter coat. Two, we wanted to pick up Una from the pet sitter.

So we drove back to Philadelphia, stopping to eat at D'Ignazio's Towne House in Media. I was curious about it, because I'd looked into it when I was looking for places to hold a party. They had a really reasonable price, and I wanted to see what they were like in case I ever want to use it.

Una seemed exhausted when we arrived. The other dog who'd stayed for the weekend, a small dog named Zor, had apparently not given her much rest all weekend. Although, apparently, she hadn't really fought back. The big exception was right as we were about to leave.

Zor was sitting at my feet, when I called Una and she came over to me. Zor barked at her, and Una attacked him. I don't know if she was trying to protect me or it was simply the last straw, but as soon as we extricated them, we knew it was time to go.

With our exciting weekend at a close, we relaxed and watched some "In Living Color," disk one from the box set my brother and his wife gave me for Christmas. I hadn't seen that show since it first aired, pretty much, and I was surprised first of all by how young everybody looked and then by how dated the clothing styles were. But dated or not, the show was lots of fun to watch.
