December 21, 2005 - 12 Finds of Christmas - Part Two

I often find interesting things while walking my dog. Here, I have some fun with some recent finds.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my neighbors gave to me...

One Magic Word!

... one tardy punishment, one list of expenses,
one Grandma invite and a school portrait on a key chain.

At first glance this looked like an ordinary receipt, neatly folded into quarters, written on receipt tape paper, with the yellow carbon copy still attached. Imagine my delight to discover this nonsense word, which I suppose could just as easily be an anagram for someone's name as it could be a magic word. I suppose there's one way to find out: say it aloud and let me know if anything happens.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my neighbors gave to me...

One Christmas Gift List ...

... one magic word, one tardy punishment, one list of expenses,
one Grandma invite and a school portrait on a key chain.

Someone apparently decided to do all of their shopping in the same music/movie superstore. At least, all of the gifts on the list seem to be either names of musical artists (Keisha Cole, Donnell Jones, Sade, Temptations, John Legend) or movie titles (King Kong).

Unfortunately, it seems like some of the gift giver's selections are on other people's lists, too, as evidenced by the word "OUT" written next to Sade,
Donnie Hathaway and Miles J. Either that or it's the gift giver's personal assessment of those musicians.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my neighbors gave to me...

One Creepy Art Slide...

I actually found this a few weeks ago. It's a slide of an art work I don't recognize, possibly original. The chunky red-haired dancer holds a red bowl and wears a transparent skirt over a white leotard, along with red ballet shoes. On the table behind her are apparently four Japanese figurines, which are either dancing or engaging in stylistic poses. Something about this slide just screams "Goth Christmas" to me.

On the eighth day of Christmas, my neighbors gave to me...

One Candy Cane Pencil...

and a school portrait on a key chain.

I don't know why I pick up pencils, since the last time I actively used them was probably in elementary school. Or for taking the SAT's.

But at least this one is festive. Of course, it's a little hard to tell, since the candy canes wrap around the pencil, but trust me, very Christmasy. The only way it could be more so was if it also smelled like peppermint.

Moral:
Goths have a very unique way to celebrate Christmas, involving androgynous dancers in cellophane.
