Real Weddings, Real Women, Real Budgets

Some brides met their soul-mates at a poetry reading; others while sky diving. Some brides love candles and lace; others prefer coconuts and leis. Some get blank checks from their parents; others more modest budgets. How can you create a wedding that represents you? Ask women who have already done it.
My Wedding, My Way will provide the collective wisdom of more than a dozen women who share creative ideas and practical advice for planning the perfect personalized wedding. Based on a series of interviews, the book will outline tips on every stage of the wedding process, from initial planning to wedding day advice, all in a conversational tone. After all, sometimes the best advice comes from chatting with a group of friends over coffee.

My Wedding, My Way will be structured by topic, beginning with a chapter on how to get started. This chapter will focus on initial planning, budgeting, and prioritizing. What sort of wedding do you want? How much money will you spend? Where should you start? At the end of this chapter will be bullet points on creating a budget and developing a wedding concept, as well as a wedding checklist and timetable.
Between each chapter, a case study will show how one woman achieved her wedding dreams, listing all the details of her wedding, from the budget to the location, from the dress to the cake. Case studies may include a Renaissance wedding in a park, an intimate wedding followed by hors d'oeuvres, and a large, multicultural wedding.
In the following chapters, the brides will discuss how they put their own twist on the ceremony and reception space, bridal party attire, an officiant, flowers, menu, cake, vows and ceremony, music, photography, decor, and more. They will share funny stories and practical advice. Each chapter will end with a summary and a list of resources to get started. Throughout, the book will be illustrated with photos from real weddings.
Other chapters will look at special topics, such as a chapter on how real brides used tradition in their weddings, a chapter on how they worked with their fiances and others to plan the wedding, and a chapter of Do's and Don'ts. The conclusion will summarize brides' advice for how to manage stress, and how to make the most of the wedding day.
While planning a wedding can seem overwhelming, My Wedding, My Way will inspire brides with creative ideas and give them the practical tools to plan and personalize their weddings.

Wilson has more than 20 years of experience in writing for publication,
including print journalism, freelance writing and editing, and Web publishing.
She tied the knot with her husband in September 2007 and learned that some
of her best advice came from trusted friends.
A published poet and columnist in various periodicals, Alyce has a Master's of Fine Arts in Poetry from Penn State University. She is co-founder and editor of the online quarterly literary magazine, Wild Violet, and has self-published Stay Out of the Bin! An Editor's Tips on Getting Published in Lit Mags, available as an e-book and pamphlet.
Her first book, a biography of Will Smith, was published electronically by Blue Line Media in 2000; her first poetry chapbook, Picturebook of the Martyrs, was self-published in Spring 2004; and she is completing her first novel, The Muse of Pizza.
Other projects include a finished poetry manuscript she plans to have published; Name Dropping, about her personal experiences with celebrities; and a book about the challenges and triumphs she faced in achieving and maintaining nearly 80 pounds of weight loss.
