November 13, 2007 - Celeb Lookalikes

Through a friend's MySpace page, I discovered an interesting amusement: a site called MyHeritage.com that helps you figure out what celebrities you resemble. Of course, I discover, it depends on what photo you submit to them.

After several tries, the graphic I created with compares me to Hilary Duff, Jessica Lange, Kate Bosworth, Holly Hunter and Joanne Peh, all of whom have a similarly shaped face to me, as well as a few other characteristics.

The picture I used for the above collage came from my web cam, but the first picture I tried was from our honeymoon and produced somewhat different results, comparing me to Mare Winningham, Sienna Miller, Rachel Stevens, J.K. Rowling, Janeane Garofalo, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Hilary Swank and even throwing Whoopi Goldberg into the mix.

Trying the web cam pics from a different angle also produced different results, likening me to Ellen DeGeneres, Madonna, Reese Witherspoon and Sophia Loren. I also found it amusing that it saw a resemblance to Willem Defoe, because in one of the photos of my parternal grandfather, he looks a lot like Willem Defoe.

Incidentally, other celebrities who came up during my experimentation included Laura Bush and Queen Latifah.

Just out of curiosity, I decided to see what it came up with for The Gryphon. The results were entertaining, comparing him to Moby, Kurt Russell, Jay Leno and Joshua Jackson. But I think he'd find most amusing is Albert Einstein!

Come to think of it, if Moby had more hair, I do see a resemblance between them. I guess The Gryphon now knows what he'd look like if he shaved his head. I can't see him doing that, though, because he hates to shave. Somehow, I think a bald head would quickly end up being a buzz cut!

Moral:
Web sites are a great way to waste time.
