July 14, 2006 - Found Drawings

Over the past several months, I've found some interesting drawings while walking our dog, Una, all of which seem to be drawn by local children.

My favorite appears to be a self-portrait, holding a flower.

The next is much smaller. This is close to actual size. It is drawn by marker and features a multicolored heart on a hill. At the top is says, boldly, "To:" with the letter "N" in pencil and then erased next to it. Perhaps this was a love note the artist decided not to share. This image is roughly life size.

And finally, there's a torn 3 x 5" card with drawings on either side. The front has a stick figure, apparently a girl with a long ponytail, standing outside a house. There's a butterfly flying overhead and there seem to be sharply trimmed bushes on either side of her. Part of a word appears: "Ang". Perhaps the artist's name is Angie or Angela. This image is roughly life sized.

On the back is a house with multiple windows and a dark roof, much bleaker looking.

It seems to me the two drawings go together, as if the artist was trying to find the right way to draw her home and then, frustrated with both of them, discarded the efforts.

Moral:
Artwork can be found in the street, if you look down.
