February 13, 2009 - Found Valentine's Day

It's been a while since I've shared any found items, so here are some that are appropriate to Valentine's Day.

First is a cute little cardboard Valentine with moveable wings, made to look like a strange butterfly. It reads: "Happy (heart) Day! Ziona." This is one of the strangest butterflies ever, because its head is apparently backwards. Either that, or it has wings on its front instead of its back. Maybe that's why it ended up on the ground. Couldn't fly, you know.

Next is a grade-school Valentine, of sorts. It actually doesn't appear to be for Valentine's Day at all, even though it looks like one. It reads, "Panda Pride Heart 2 Heart, To: Nick B., From: Colleen." It has a panda dressed as cupid, shooting arrows into hearts and was printed on pink cardstock (but printed badly: some of the words are cut off).

I think it's probably the same sort of thing our student council used to do for fundraisers. They would go around the school and collect money from students to send a "Heart 2 Heart" (or whatever they were calling it in our school) to another student. The fact that Nick B. didn't take this home and cherish it means either that he's not interested or that the cupid Panda creeped him out.

Next is a very inexpensive love note. No cardstock is involved, no deformed butterflies, and no money was exchanged (unless the note writer actually paid for the paper and pencil used to write it, which somehow I doubt). It's just a corner of a piece of notebook paper with block letters on it. Since it's only a fragment, they appear to be cut off. The portion I have reads "Cysta Love Vinc." An eternal love story, Cysta and Vinc. They'll be writing plays about them someday.

And finally, I found a neatly-written version of the lyrics to "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat. This is a romantic song, so perhaps whoever wrote them down intended to serenade someone. There are some notes written in the margins, as well. On the front, a margin note reads "I'm nothing without you." On the back, there are two margin notes: "How do you sleep J.M." and "We belong together M.C." Hmm. Maybe she intended to sing it and then gave the lyrcis to her beloved? If so, nice touch.

Will you count me in?

V1: I've been awake for a while now
you've got me feelin like a child now
cause everytime I see your bubbly face
I get the tinglies in a silly place

C: It starts in my toes
and I crinkle my nose
whenever it goes I always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go

V2: The rain is fallin on my window pane
but we are hiding in a safer place
under cover stayin dry and warm
you give me feelings that I adore

Moral:
Deformed insects make for strangely cute Valentine's Day cards.
