Earlier
this week, I took my dog, Una, to see the new place that The Gryphon and
I will be moving into. I thought it would be a good idea for her to get
used to it before we move.
She
enjoyed the walk, especially stopping to take in all the new scents. I
tried to keep her moving, though, because I wanted to get back home and
do some more packing. As soon as we got inside, she seemed to realize
that it was our place. Maybe because I used a key to open it up, or maybe
because as soon as she ran upstairs, she found some of my things and sniffed
them, with interest.
From
the excitement she seemed to show as she ran around the apartment, she
seemed to approve of the new place. She especially seemed drawn to the
closet in the master bedroom, which she kept ducking in and out of, a
big silly grin on her face.
She
seemed to enjoy the spacious downstairs living room and dining room area.
She
would not, however, venture into the basement, fearing basement
monsters.
And here I thought we only had basement monsters in my current place.
Overall,
despite the basement monsters, Una seems to approve of the new place.
I had hoped that being able to see where I'm putting the stuff that I'm
removing from my apartment would help Una feel better about the moving
process, but she still whines and cries when I remove items from the apartment.
The
old place is slowly emptying, the new place filling, and within a relatively
short time, Una's toys and Una herself will join us in the new place.
She'll get to say good-bye to her old basement monsters and get used to
new ones.
