This past
weekend, The Gryphon graciously helped me put together the new computer
desk I bought through Fingerhut. This was more of a problem than either
of us had anticipated, since it didn't provide pilot holes for many of
the screws that had to be fitted.
It was also
short a couple screws. But these were for the shelves for the speakers,
and I decided I don't mind not installing them.
We did agree,
however, to stick with IKEA from now on.
So I will
now begin reorganizing my office space, something which drastically needs
to be done. As I began mentally planning out what must take place, I realized
that I never showed the before and after pictures from my reorganization
of the front section of the apartment, completed earlier this year.
Here's what
the apartment looked like before I began reorganizing.
You'll notice
an empty set of shelves I'd received for Christmas but hadn't yet utilized.
A small caveat here: this was taken just after a very hectic holiday season
and was the worst my apartment had ever been.
The next two shots show what sort of chaos my dog, Una, and I put up with
during the reorganization project. This was sooooo fun. She got very confused.
Una doesn't like it when I change things, because then she has to sniff
everything that's been moved.
And
finally (drumroll please), the finished result.
Now,
in an ideal world I would have also moved the dog pen, but in my small
apartment there's no other place to put it. The pen comes in useful when
the pizza guy comes.
Hmm. Looking
at these pictures, I will definitely move on that idea to recover the
foot stool. It's looking sad, indeed.
The entire
process involved several weeks of going through papers and magazines,
shelving videotapes, records (yes, records), CDs and books, and finding
new homes for the various loose objects floating around on the floor.
Now the
reorganization project begins in earnest on my work space. I'll share
before and after pictures when I've completed it. Time to confuse Una!
