The items I ordered for The Gryphon's Halloween costume are slowly but surely arriving in the mail. Two of them came yesterday: the tuxedo shirt and the matching pink bow-tie and cummerbund.

For those not in the loop, we're planning on going as '80s prom dates for Halloween. I found an absolutely marvelous pink shiny prom dress, with a puffy skirt and a bolero jacket with puffy sleeves. Very Eighties.

Now, the tuxedo shirt, according to the online listing, was his exact measurements. But when I pulled it out of the envelope, I noticed the tag said "Medium." This concerned me because The Gryphon has been wearing a size large. Even though he's lost about 35 pounds, I didn't think he was a size medium just yet.

As soon as he came home, I had him try it on. It fit perfectly. Perhaps a little tighter than he would have preferred, but it buttons all the way down without looking like it's too small.

Before he could object, I also tried on the cummerbund and bow-tie, then giggled with glee at the result. They're shiny! He'll be the best '80s prom date ever! Much better than the blind date I had for my senior prom, no doubt.

Turns out the tuxedo shirt had normal buttons, so we won't actually need the studs and cufflinks I purchased off eBay to complete his costume. Oh, well. Maybe he'll need them some day.

I'm also waiting on a pink clutch I purchased for myself. It's got a big flower on it and everything. Can't wait.

Today's entry will be short, because I have a lot to get done before The Gryphon and I leave to visit my brother and his family in Vermont. We'd promised earlier in the year that we'd get up there as soon as we could work it, and this was the earliest chance we had. Any later than this, and we'd be in serious risk of snow.

Just as an aside, I'm finding it extremely amusing, checking on my tracking statistics, that there seems to be a good number of hits from people checking out the picture of me in my bathing suit this past summer. Don't know why, but apparently people are finding it by searching Images.google.com and then staying to check out other pages on Musings afterwards. Guess it's a "chicks with glasses" thing or something.

Tomorrow morning, we'll get to visit with Luke, the little kitty we're going to be adopting. That should be fun. I'll try to get some pictures of him and share them. He's staying with his foster family until after we return from Vermont, but in the meantime, we'll complete the adoption paperwork and pay the adoption fee.

I think it's only slightly more involved to adopt an actual child.
