March 4 , 2004 - Another Chance

John Stevens and Jasmine Trias are advancing on to the finalist round in American Idol.

But George Huff actually gets one more chance to prove himself.

John got the most votes, with 28 percent, and it must be because of not only his captivating voice but also his crooner's ease in performing.

When he performed again, after being selected, it was clear he was a good choice. Simon had known this, and smugly bragged about having been right about him.

Jasmine Trias, who had done an excellent job the night before, also made it in, much to her shock it would seem. She buried her face in her hands for several seconds, smiling jubilantly.

Then it was time to announce the Wild Card round contestants. These people were selected from the previous weeks. They are Elizabeth LeTendre, Eric Yoder, Jennifer Hudson, Jon Peter Lewis, Katie Webber, Leah LaBelle, Lisa Leuschner, Marque Lynche and Matthew Metzger.

After host Ryan Seacrest announced these nine, he gave the judges the opportunity to select three more from those who hadn't made it through that night. Randy Jackson didn't hesitate before picking Susie Vulaca. Paula gave a big smile and picked George Huff. And Simon wanted to make it very clear that his choice was based on a previous performance before choosing Tiara Purifoy.

Some of these contestants didn't get through last time because of stiff competition, or perhaps they had an off night or a poor song choice. Now they have another chance.

Four people from the wild card competition will advance to the finalists. Those who have been chosen so far demonstrate a lot of potential. This should be a great final competition.
